Ladies and Gentlemen we have a winner

So after long talks and planning and MUCH NEEDED decision making, we have chosen which city in the great state of Utah we will be moving!

Option numero uno was .... Ogden, home of Weber State, town where Darin's uncle & cousin reside, and Closest city to our best buddies Emma & Dustin.

Option number two was ... Provo/Orem, Home of both BYU (where Darin ultimately wants to transfer) & Utah Valley (where Darin could go to get his generals & transfer credits), Also housing My sister & brother in-law, our good friends Terrell, Steph & Derrick, Anna & her hubby Stratton (and new baby adeline!).

And finally Option number three... Salt Lake City, Darin's sweet Grandmother & Uncles live here, The Business College (which is owned by BYU, A cheap & good school Darin can start at to transfer to BYU) & Good job opportunities (as far as transferring to Anthropologie or Urban & Hair Salons go)

So we talked about, thought we had decided, changed our minds ... talked some more... changed our minds again did some more research on the schools and decided on ....

SALT LAKE CITY

see ya soon!

A shower for the best

The weekend after Labour day weekend I got to see my favorite person & throw her a bridal shower! It was a nice time with a small group of close friends, and hopefully she got some things she'll need.

Thanks to all who came for making it a special day for a great friend!

LABOUR DAY

Oh Labour day It has been so long since I have seen you, but lucky for you I will always remember the weekend my family spent basking in your sunny rays!

This year over Labour day weekend it was exceptionally note worthy and special, My family and I rescued a sea turtle... and not one of those tiny little turtles that like to occasionally take a dip in the ocean, I mean the biggins'!
How did we save a sea turtle you may ask, well have no fears I am about to tell you so just sit back and enjoy the story...

One Day an adventure seeking family set out in their boat to find a little place called Murrells inlet, having no clue how far this inlet was they took off for a day of fun ...

MOM,DAD,SISTERS,BROTHER (in-laws): ooooo I like going down the inter coastal this direction it's pretty & scenic!

1 hour later ...

MOM: I have to pee
SISTER: This sucks
CHRISTIINA: I'm hungry

2 hours later...
long story short, they turn around without finding Murrells Inlet!

2 hours late the other direction...

DAD: omg was that a sea turtle? I think he might be injured

(boat turned around)

EVERYONE: yeah he's hurt what do we do.

well I will tell you what they did.

The men folk got into the water and hoisted the big guy onto an inter tube (flipped over of course) then he & the inter tube were pulled onto the boat and driven to the "turtle lady" who conveniently lives on the same Island this family's beach house resides! turtle Lady then takes big sea turtle to the turtle hospital ( yes one really does exist) and now Calabash (which is his name given to him by the turtle hospital because of where he was found) is all well and good!

THE END

Hope you enjoyed my little story as much as I enjoyed my Labour day weekend!

You can read about Calabashs' (the turtle) story here :

Twilight = True Love please!

So I must say that one of my guiltiest pleasures are those little gossip magazines that sit so conveniently in the check out line, calling my name ( and Darin could not be more annoyed that I actually spend money on them). But to my surprise I have been pretty good about not buying them lately ( maybe because lately they are always something to do with Micheal Jackson's death) but none the less I haven't been buying them, that was until this week at the grocery store when the first two magazines I saw had huge pictures of Rob Pattinson & Kristen Stewart and a headline along the lines of "Twilight romance" or "Back on Again?" and i couldn't resist.... I am embarrassed to admit that I am like those 12 & 13 year old girls who are obsessed with Twilight and would be extremely thrilled if they were together in real life, sad I know but oh so true!!!

Harry Potter- And the Half Blood Prince

So, Darin and I (but mostly I) had the grand idea to hit the movies last night for the 12:00 showing of Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince. I must say it was pretty good... It was very long and sometimes hard to keep my eyes open considering it was 3:30 am by the time we got outta there, but It is def. the first Harry Potter movie I've seen that leaves you hanging at the end! All & all it was a pretty enjoyable move, and hey we can say we were there for the premiere!

P.S. Can I just say there are some movies coming out that I am SUPER excited about mainly being:

Where The Wild Things Are

New Moon

Listen up, here's a story

Hello hello you wondrous people out there who read my bloggy, I have some updates, but sadly... I am lame and have no pictures to match (so if you choose to read no further I in no way blame you, I myself am a blogger picture browser and not so much a reader).
So as you may know, I graduated on July 3rd , and that night after I finished school Darin, my brother in-law & I all drove to Sunset Beach NC and spent the weekend with mi madre y padre y ehhh The Marshall family (I only pretend to know some Spanish)! Oh my flippin gosh was it the bomb to finally have a vacation if only i could have one forever. It was so fun spending the fourth at the beach, my family and the Marshalls took the boat down to south port and watched the firework show which were the coolest fireworks my little eyes have ever seen!

I really wish I had pictures, because with out them this next story may not be as funny to you as it is to me, but sorry for you I am going to tell it anyway... So like I said we were at the beach (my dogs came too) and Faye likes to swim, but the sad thing is, she can't swim... so my mom has a doggie life vest, and we took Faye to the ocean one night, and let her play in the water, well needless to say the obsessive little bull s***, I mean dog , that she is she did not want to stop swimming, no matter how tired she is she will not stop, and so the life jacket she had on has a handle on the top of it so you can lift the dog out of the water, well when we would lift Faye out of the water she would keep paddling her little legs in mid air ... I dunno if you guys can picture it, but you can just trust me when I tell you it was pretty stinkin cute.

Then... on Friday, Darin Stephen and I packed up and headed to The NC Mountains where we had a nice little family get together with Darin's family sort of a last hoo rah since we will all be headed our separate ways pretty shortly. We were all so lucky to sleep in a 100 yr old cabin on Friday night and then a rafting trip down the Natahala the next morning... It was fun, although the Natahala's rapids were kinda dinky and anti climactic, I still enjoyed myself. (ok so i lied, here are some pictures from the rafting trip, but to be fair I stole these from my sister-in-law's blog. he he )

And now to present day... I had my second portion of an interview with Bob Steele Salons on Monday July 13Th and ... duh duh duh... I GOT THE JOB!
And, Darin got a job!!! Things are starting to look up for our little George family, and we feel so blessed!

So anywho my little blog friendies that's pretty much it, hope you enjoyed yet another little Syd shpiel. Ta ta for now!

Current obsessions

lately i have been obsessing like most girls often do, and so If you are curious I will share my most recent obsessions.

1. Joe's ex-lovers cropped denim! super comfy and great with heels or flats.

2. Tocca's Cleopatra perfume. smells like heaven in a bottle ... seriously

3. Turquoise jewelry, I'm not sure I can put this as a current obsession considering I have always loved turquoise, but give me turquoise in any shape, size or color and I will love it!

4. Native American inspired items, IE: purses, shirts, jewelry, scarves etc... gimme gimme gimme!
Thanks for indulging me by readin my crazy ramblings, I bet i seem very superficial by writing about my clothing obsessions, but hey I'm only human... Just wait till I write about my home decorating obsessions, it will go on forever! thanks for reading & good night ;)

Some updates

Hello there friends! it has been quite some time since I've posted, I am not very good at the whole blogging daily or even weekly for that matter, but i will try harder... maybe.
Once again there hasn't been much of anything too note, but I guess i could babble for a bit if you would like!?!!
We got back from Anna's wedding about 2 or 3 weeks ago?! It was a very pretty ceremony, My sister and her good friend Christina did an amazing job decorating and putting together beautiful flower arrangements, and Anna and her cute little man seemed very happy, which in turn makes me happy! We also got to see a few of our dear friends and had a fabulous time hanging in P- town and SLC! Darin and I are in desperate need of some good friends who live closer by, and I couldn't be more thrilled that he and my best friends fiance to be are becoming quick pals!

Our new addition seems to be fitting in quite nicely, Faye loves him and Winston is adapting slowly but surely... It was cute I found all three of them sleeping on the sofa together the other night, so naturally I had to snap a couple photos!

Darin and I are still planning on moving our little (but slowly growing) family out to UT in January, and Are looking forward to a new adventure!
In the meantime, We are saving like crazy!!! and I am anticipating getting the heck out of hair school pretty darn soon!!!
Also, a few weeks ago i made Marian's Oreo balls for a farewell party in honor of the dear Boyelston family! They turned out pretty good, I'm just not a pro yet like Marian! for any of you who haven't had Oreo balls I highly recommend you go make them

Oreo Balls:

1 bag of oreos
1 (8 oz) container cream cheese
one bar of Almond Bark (white chocolate)

crunch up oreos in a chopper/grinder thingy( i know you love my cooking terminology)
until there are no big chunks.
place ground up oreos and (thawed out) cream cheese into mixer and mix together until you cannot see anymore white.
roll mixture into small "balls" and place onto wax paper, melt almond bark over stove on low heat, and then dip Oreo mixture balls into almond bark. place back onto wax paper, and let harden.... and wah la, bon appetit!

Well my lovely friends who actually read this, that's about all I have, I hope you have enjoyed yourselves, and DO make those Oreo balls they are scrumptious! in closing I will leave you some endearing photos of my little babies ha ha! until next time, peace.
